Harry
Jackman is a Construction Manager for The Jackman
Group, a Coronado based multi-disciplinary design
group offering planning, design and construction.
Harry
has more than 30 years of experience in the construction
industry. He began his career working in a family
owned business, Jackman Steel Construction Co.
The company was established by Harry's father
in 1948 and was responsible for the building of
more than 1.5 million square feet of industrial
and office parks throughout San Diego County.
The industrial parks featured both steel and wood
frame construction.
Harry
later founded Jackman Wheels, an automotive accessories
company which grew to world-wide distribution
and prominence. As the company grew and expanded,
Harry and Sheryl Jackman acted as their own general
contractors, operating as Jackman Construction
Co., building retail spaces and assembly spaces
that paralleled their manufacturing activities.
Harry
served as president of both companies, In this
unique relationship, he served as both Contractor
and Client and developed a keen understanding
and appreciation of the needs and expectations
of both entities.
Jackman
Construction Co. diversified in the early '70s
into residential construction, including "spec"
homes, build-to-suits and custom remodeling. A
major remodel in Coronado received the Best Improved
Private Property award and was featured in San
Diego Home/Garden Lifestyles Magazine and Better
Homes and Gardens Magazine.
Jackman
Construction Co.'s name was changed in 1983 and
is now part of The Jackman Group. The firm continues
to offer turnkey design and construction services.
